Gellert baths

Just cooling off and resting a bit after visiting the Gellert baths. It was very cool… the building and decoration is beautiful and seems like it hasn’t changed much in a hundred years.

You enter and pay admission, about $20, and they give you a magnetic little wristband that gives you access to a locker or cabin, based on the price you pay.

I changed and went into the large pool, then the hot tub. Eventually I found the men’s only thermal baths, which were really beautiful with blue tile walls and mosaic ceilings. There are lots of local people here, a few older men who seem to come all the time, and tourists, a few with young kids. Everyone was very calm and relaxed.. It’s like going to a spa.

Now I’m sitting with a bottle of water and a protein bar from home, watching the people go in and out, while I figure out where to go next. My bag is heavy with my jacket, wet towel and bathing suit and a couple souvenirs from the market, so I might head back towards the hotel.
